For one of our clients - a global engineering and consulting company with Canadian roots - we are currently looking for candidates for the Buyer/Purchasing Agent position to support international projects. The organization has a strong hub in Katowice and delivers projects across industries such as energy, infrastructure, and natural resources. The company combines engineering expertise with a modern approach to data and technology, offering work in a truly international environment.
Location: Katowice (office work).
Your new role :
Manage purchasing activities from project initiation through close-out, ensuring timely acquisition of materials and equipment.
Execute purchase order formation, award, administration, and close-out for local and international orders.
Develop and implement purchasing procedures and templates.
Oversee the bidding process: prepare bid documents, chair bidder meetings, manage queries, conduct bid analysis, and issue award recommendations.
Ensure compliance with project requirements, legislation, and import/export regulations.
Facilitate purchase order kick-off meetings, monitor progress payments, and manage contractual changes.
Expedite materials and vendor documentation post-award when required
What you'll need to succeed :
6+ years of experience as a Buyer, with exposure to both local and international markets.
- Familiarity with ISO 9000 and ISO 19011 standards.
- English- advanced.
Proven track record managing procurement for large-scale or complex projects.
- Technical or trade qualification in a relevant discipline.
- Strong technical aptitude with in-depth knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and supply chain items.
Demonstrated ability to achieve quality, cost, and schedule objectives with a strong focus on deliverables.
Solid understanding of engineering concepts and interdisciplinary dependencies.
Expertise in procurement, contracting, pre-operational verification, and commissioning methodologies.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
Comprehensive understanding of project execution, including materials management.
Working knowledge of SmartPlant or similar systems is an asset.
- Master's/Bachelor's degree in supply chain/logistics – preferably.
Experience in capital projects – preferably.
