For one of our clients – an international consulting and engineering company with Canadian roots – we are seeking candidates for the position of Senior Structural Designer to support global projects. The organisation has a hub in Katowice and delivers initiatives across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and natural resources. The company combines engineering expertise with a modern approach to data and technology, offering the opportunity to work in an international environment.
Your new role
Implemented and maintained purchasing procedures, standards, and project-specific templates.
Managed and coordinated the purchasing team to ensure efficient delivery of procurement activities.
Executed end-to-end procurement processes, including: preparation and approval of bidder lists, coordination with project disciplines to compile and validate technical and commercial documentation, preparation and issuance of bid documents (ITB/RFQ) and contractual terms, management of the tendering process, including bidder queries and addenda, preparation and issuance of purchase orders.
Participated in defining and negotiating general terms and conditions with the client.
Facilitated purchase order kick-off meetings and ensured smooth handover to expediting teams.
Managed contract changes, including variations, claims, and backcharges in line with agreed terms and conditions.
Supported financial processes by validating progress payments and collaborating with accounting for payment approvals.
Managed bonds and guarantees related to procurement activities.
Ensured proper closure of purchase orders in accordance with project requirements and procedures.
Ensured all procurement activities complied with applicable legal and regulatory requirements, including corporate, tax, customs, and import regulations.
What you'll need to succeed
Relevant technical qualification or trade qualification in relevant discipline
Relevant 10 years+ experience as a Buyer Experience as a Buyer in local and international markets
Experience working on large or complex projects
High degree of technical aptitude and familiarity with various materials, fabrication processes and supply items
Ability to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives and strong deliverable focus
Strong technical focus with a good understanding of engineering concepts
A high degree of understanding of interdisciplinary dependencies related to the discipline
Good understanding of procurement, contracting, pre-operational verification and commissioning methodologies
Knowledge of ISO 9000 and ISO 19011
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
A strong focus toward clients
Working knowledge of SmartPlant system (or similar) is advantageous.
Excellent understanding of project execution, especially materials management and scheduling
