We are looking for a skilled and experienced General Ledger Accountant to join the finance team of our client — a prominent player in the food industry with a well-established presence across the EMEA region.
This role is dedicated to the German market, so a minimum B1 level of German is required. Additionally, knowledge of fixed assets management is essential. The ideal candidate will bring solid accounting experience, SAP proficiency, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely execution of tasks to support smooth and error-free month-end (MEC), quarter-end (QEC), and year-end closings for the assigned region
- Apply advanced knowledge of accounting processes, systems, and tools in daily operations
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and group policies
- Take proactive actions to resolve accounting issues and discrepancies
- Contribute to project activities supporting the development of the newly established BSC organization
- Facilitate effective task transitions, knowledge transfer, and process documentation
- Collaborate closely with business units, local entities, and headquarters to provide analysis for decision-making
- Resolve complex queries and maintain strong business relationships with stakeholders
- Actively participate in transition and process improvement projects
Requirements:
- University degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in accounting and/or finance
- Strong expertise in GL processes, with solid knowledge of accounting, finance, and controlling
- Proficiency in SAP, preferably SAP S/4HANA (experience in SAP S/4HANA implementation is a strong asset)
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience in a Shared Services environment, including process transformation and project management
- Familiarity with US GAAP, IFRS, and local accounting regulations
- Experience in accounting or audit in an independent role
- Process improvement mindset and automation skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work under pressure and in a team
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of fixed assets management is essential.
- Fluent in English, German at minimum B1 level
